전북자치도 고창군은 봉덕리 고분군 일원이 '광역단위 역사문화권 정비사업' 공모에 선정돼 역사ㆍ생태ㆍ놀이를 연결하는 공간으로 조성된다고 5일 밝혔다.

 

이번 공모에는 전국 8개 광역 시ㆍ도 21개 기초지자체가 신청해 5개 광역 시ㆍ도 6개 기초지자체가 선정됐다.

 

도내에서는 고창군이 유일하게 선정됐다.

 

광역단위 역사문화권 정비는 '역사문화권 정비 등에 관한 특별법'에 따라 우리나라 고대 역사 문화권과 그 문화권별 문화유산을 연구ㆍ조사ㆍ발굴ㆍ복원 등 체계적으로 정비해 문화유산의 가치를 세계적으로 알리고 지역 발전 도모를 위해 추진하는 사업이다.

 

고창 봉덕리 고분군과 인접 유적지가 올해부터 2028년까지 총사업비 140억원(국비 50%, 지방비 50%) 이내로 고대 마한 역사 문화 환경을 체계적으로 정비된다.

 

봉덕리 고분군 3~4호분과 봉덕 유적 일원의 유물산포지는 마한 중심 세력(모로비리국)의 실체를 입증하는 핵심 군집 유적으로 학술적 가치가 높은 것으로 평가받고 있다.
