정읍 '지황' 농업 시스템의 전통적 가치와 지속 가능한 농업 발전 가능성을 인정받아 국가중요농업유산으로 지정됐다.

 

23일 전북 정읍시에 따르면 '정읍 지황' 농업시스템이 '제20호 국가중요농업유산'으로 지정돼 지난 20일 정부세종청사에서 지정서와 지정패를 수여했다.

 

이날 수여식에는 송미령 농림축산식품부 장관과 기획조정실장 및 전북특별자치도 민선식 농생명축산산업국장과 이학수 정읍시장 등 10여 명의 핵심 관계자가 참석해 기쁨을 나눴다. 국가중요농업유산으로 지정된 '정읍 지황'농업시스템은 조선 전기부터 굳건히 이어져 온 지황 재배의 역사성과 전통성을 자랑하며 무엇보다 지역 주민의 생계와 아주 밀접하게 맞닿아 있다는 점에서 심사위원들의 높은 평가를 받았다.

 

볏짚을 활용한 종근 소독과 윤작을 통한 지력 회복ㆍ전통 방식을 계승한 아홉 번 찌고 말리는 '구증구포'숙지황 제조 등 정읍만의 고유한 농업 기술이 오늘날까지 생생하게 전승되고 있다.
